Rain, rain will you ever go away?

June has been an absurdly wet, cool month and even though the sun is finally starting to push through, more rainy days are sure to happen.

Instead of feeling gloomy, embrace the rain; treat yourself to some fashionable rain gear to make your day a little brighter.

You know what you need for the next rainy day? A trench coat, of course. A classic trench will be around forever. There's just something so sleek and stylish about a great trench coat. Usually a spring or fall essential, but so suitable right now to get you out of the wet trenches.

A khaki gabardine is the traditional style (think Burberry, the creator of the trench), but since it's summer, get entrenched in a trench with fun updated designs: ruffles, bright colors, sheer or metallic fabrics, and cropped trenches. I'm lovin' the trench coat -- my spring line includes a fabulous bright yellow ruffled trench, perfect for these summer showers.

When you've got a trench on, what's underneath isn't important. The trench works well with anything, from jeans to your new little white dress. It's such a versatile piece and considered a basic fashion staple. Tim Gunn of Project Runway says a trench coat should be included in every woman's basic ten must have fashion items.

Guys will probably be most comfortable with the classic style and cut in neutral colors like khaki, tan or black. Save the ruffles for the gals. Whichever style you choose, investing in a trench is a safe bet. The trench trend has been going strong for over a century now; it has survived through fashion trends and won over every new generation. It is the perfect way to stay stylishly dry during a wet Salt Lake summer.

There's not much worse than having wet feet and wet shoes. To keep your tootsies warm and dry, and safeguard your new pedicure, rain boots are required. A few years ago, Wellington boots (Wellies), the rainy-day standby, had a fashion revival. Photos of Kate Moss slogging through the muck at a music festival in short shorts and Wellies made the brand an instant favorite. Realizing they were kind of cool, women began to wear Wellies with their skirts, shorts, or tucked into their skinny jeans.

The great thing about rain boots is they're for everyone -- guys, girls and kids. There's a style for every personality and every price range. Like splashing in puddles? Channel your inner child with candy colored gumboots, polka dots or funky prints. For the sophisticated puddle jumper, there is the classic green Hunter boots from Wellington, or go all out with a Burberry plaid. Rain boots are so in today that the big brands, designers, and discount chains all have their own lines. Who would have thought that rubber footwear would become a key fashion item?

The umbrella is a rain no-brainer, although I never seem to have one when I need one. The smarter ladies and gents are walking by staying perfectly dry with the mini umbrellas they keep in the bottom of their purses and briefcases; the truly stylish should never be caught off guard.

Instead of sticking with traditional black, a colored or patterned umbrella will add a ray of sunshine on these cloudy days. If you're wanting high quality (and price) or one that won't flip inside-out in a strong wind, Burberry is again at your service with their classic plaid.

For style that's not all wet, get set for the rain. With so many options, you'll be craving more rainy days, maybe even singin' in the rain. Enjoy the puddles!
