Before opening a location in Salt Lake City, Blue Lemon caught my eye on Twitter, tempting a visit to their Highland location with food descriptions in 140 characters or less. I was thrilled to see them opening a second location on the south side of Temple Square. The casual eatery had a wonderful menu in a clean, upscale setting.

We placed our order and waited for our entrées as we dipped grilled pita pieces into hummus ($4) and artichoke-spinach cheese dip ($4). The simple flavors were exquisite, I commented that only these appetizers would make a good meal. My plate of Black Bean Ravioli ($9.5) arrived beautifully arranged. This Italian/Southwestern dish had a wonderful flavor tangy flavor from roasted red pepper cream sauce and side of salsa with fresh cilantro. The others enjoyed their Blue Lemon Turkey Burger ($8), Artichoke and Tomato Panini ($8) and Pear and Gorgonzola Spinach Salad ($8.50). Where the flavor was lacking, the presentation more than made up for it.

This chic dining experience is a great option for a quick bite and break in the day.

I'm thrilled that Blue Lemon has come to downtown SLC! The food is amazing, familiar, but with an interesting and refreshing twist. Yummy sandwiches, refreshing salads, delightful sweets! All this and a terrific, friendly staff.

If it is anything like the Blue Lemon in Alpine I would never recommend the place. My husband and I went once and that was enough. His enchilada was dry, my chicken pasta dish tasted terrible. Frozen veggies, canned chicken, canned soup to make it. Frankly I do a better job of cooking at home.
