Though they're barely old enough to buy a drink, pop punkers Paramore are already seasoned rock veterans. The Franklin, Tenn., five piece formed in junior high school and released their debut album, "All We Know is Falling," before even graduating high school.
"All We Know" helped the band build a solid fanbase, but it was their sophomore release, 2007's "Riot!" that earned them superstar status. The record sold more than two million copies, went gold in five countries, and scored the group a Grammy for Best New Artist.
Despite the wild international success -- and the accompanying rollercoaster highs and lows -- the band manages to keep their lives incredibly grounded. At the ripe old age of 22, the band's guitarist and eldest member Josh Farro has already dived into adulthood, marrying girlfriend Jenna Rice earlier this month.
Though the guitarist's nuptials likely broke many a young girl's heart, Farro says it hasn't changed the band's dynamic. "It's not really different," Farro says from their California practice space, as the band prepares to launch a tour of the U.S. and Europe. "No one in the band really treats me like 'Josh the Married Guy.'"
Though he's a bit bummed about the separation, 'Josh the Married Guy' isn't worried about staying faithful to his new bride while on the road. "It's not like girls are throwing themselves at us [on tour]. We don't want that and we're not looking for that." he says. "[My wife] has been out on the road with us and has seen what's it's like. I don't think she even thinks twice about it. She trusts me."
The wiles of rock 'n' roll have never been much of a temptation for the band anyway. When asked what role their Christian beliefs play in the band, Farro, who cites John 15:5 as his "favorite quote" on the band's website, says "I think it's the most important part."
"We feel like the Lord has put us here for a reason," Farro says, "and we feel very blessed to have been given the opportunities that we have." Though Farro says the band doesn't try to push their beliefs on anyone, they're always willing to share their experiences or offer a listening ear.
Despite getting picked on a bit by punker-than-thou atheists NOFX, Farro says other bands have been very respectful of Paramore's faith. "More than anything, we've just had to overcome bands not respecting us because of our age."
A little disrespect can't hold the band down. Through constant touring and an increasingly impressive catalog (see the band's latest and best "Brand New Eyes"), Paramore has successfully earned the props they deserve -- all without tampering with their birth certificates.
